FM Mutiny
Mobile users want better video calls, streaming television and faster downloads, all of which utilize the radio spectrum. As a result, more of the radio bandwidth is being allocated for commercial gain, placing more demands on the limited radio spectrum available. FM Mutiny simultaneously repurposes the entire FM-band in rapid succession revealing the saturation of information that constantly solicits our attention. The creative re-allocation of these frequencies is an act of defiance that destructs the content of the broadcast while empowering the listeners to take control of the radio space.
The version of this project presented here is In Situ and is still a work in progress. The documentation of this work was done on Sunday May 28th at the no longer existent Kabane 77 which was once a large butcher shop in the Mile End neighborhood of Montreal.
