Roger Roger do you Copy? Radio as a medium for making art

Combining theoretical and practical skills, this workshop aims to familiarize participants with the idea of radio as a medium for making art. This 5 hour workshop supplies participants with a zine “Radio Art: Electromagnetic Fieldnotes” designed by Martín Rodríguez as an inspirational guide to the diverse practices that artists have explored utilizing radio. The first half of the workshop utilizes audiovisual examples along with texts by radio artist to attempt to define the medium. The second half allows the participants to explore various different transmission and radio devices including but not limited to DIY transmitters, micro fm transmitters, VLF receivers, crystal radios, and a three radio theremin.
